Triece Gignilliat Ziblut practices Commercial and Residential Real Estate Law in Georgia and South Carolina. She advises property owners, lenders and purchasers' acquiring, developing and financing real property. She leads the firm's Residential closing team, and lectures on the newly implemented RESPA Reform. Ms. Ziblut assists lenders on problem loans, workouts, modifications and foreclosures. She also counsels clients on permitting and enforcement actions under Georgia's Shore Protection Act and Coastal Marshlands Protection Act, which regulate development of beach front and marsh front property.
Ms. Ziblut works with a wide variety of clients, including property owners, lenders, national homebuilders and real estate developers.
Before attending law school, Ms. Ziblut worked as a photo-journalist at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, covering projects and events for the Coastal Resources Division and the Non-Game Wildlife Program. Thereafter, she became a Legislative Assistant for U.S. Representative Lindsay Thomas (D-Ga) in his Washington, D.C. office. She counseled the Congressman on environmental, banking, housing, transportation and health care issues. Ms. Ziblut drafted comprehensive legislation introduced by Congressman Thomas to overhaul Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and establish financial incentives for wetlands protection. Following Congressman Thomas's retirement, she worked for his successor, U.S. Representative Jack Kingston (R-GA) in the same capacity.
She graduated with a B.A. in journalism from the University of Georgia in 1986 and a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 1996. In law school, she participated in Moot Court (ABA Team, Moot Court Board) and the Environmental Law Association. Upon graduation, Ms. Ziblut was made a member of Order of the Coif.
Ms. Ziblut serves on the Executive Board of the Small Business Assistance Corporation, the Rape Crisis Center and Lend-A-Hand Charity, Inc. She participates on the governmental affairs committee of the Savannah Chamber of Commerce, and is a graduate of the 2006 Class of Leadership Savannah. She is a member of the Savannah Board of Realtors and the Georgia and South Carolina bar associations. She also is a member of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, a sustainer in the Junior League of Savannah, and fosters dogs for Grateful Goldens Rescue.
