Legal Awareness in the Workplace: Discrimination and Hostile Work Environment – What You Need to Know

Georgia Southern University’s new season of Legal Awareness in the Workplace seminars begins August 18 and runs through January. Human Resource professionals, office managers, supervisors, and other business leaders are invited to attend 90-minute professional development seminars on the employment law issue of their choice. Seminars are held monthly, rotating from the Coastal Georgia Center located in Savannah, the law office of HunterMaclean located in Brunswick, and the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on campus in Statesboro.

Legal Awareness in the Workplace (LAW) 125: Discrimination and Hostile Work Environment – What You Need to Know, will be presented by attorney Sarah Lamar on Tuesday, August 18, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Coastal Georgia Center. Discrimination and harassment claims occur in even the best of firms. Learn what qualifies as discrimination, who can be charged with harassment, and how best to reduce the likelihood of these charges in the workplace. Specifics include the policies and training to ensure the best workplace environment, and the requirements for investigation if a case arises.

Georgia Southern University is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP and the SHRM-SCP. Upon completion of the seminar, attendees will receive 1.5 credit hours toward a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) re-certification that complies with the rules of the Human Resources Certification Institute.
