Attorney Diana McKenzie to be Featured Speaker at HIMSS12 Healthcare IT Conference in Las Vegas

Attorney Diana J. P. McKenzie, the leader of HunterMaclean’s Information Technology and Outsourcing Practice Group, will speak at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society’s HIMSS12 conference, which will take place February 20-24, 2012 in Las Vegas at the Venetian Sands Expo Center.

HIMSS12 is a conference that features top industry leaders who share their insights and lessons in more than 300 educational sessions in 23 topic areas regarding healthcare IT. The conference expects to attract more than 30,000 attendees from around the world with more than 1,000 exhibitors.

McKenzie will present two lectures, “Minding the Store: Negotiating Successful Billing and Collections Outsourcing Agreements” on February 22 at 1 p.m. PST and “Parting the Clouds: Negotiation Tips for Healthcare Cloud Computing Agreements” on February 23 at 2:15 p.m. PST. She will also sit on a “Meet the Experts” panel on February 22 at 3:30 p.m.

“Minding the Store” identifies key negotiation points in billing and collections outsourcing agreements, provides examples of service level agreements customers and illustrates strategies to align collections risk and reward. “Parting the Clouds” discusses the importance of incorporating strong client safeguards into healthcare cloud computing agreements, provides examples of client-friendly provisions such as regulatory warranties and service level commitments, and demonstrates ways to allocate risk between cloud computing agreement parties.

McKenzie is internationally recognized for her work in commercial information technology and outsourcing matters, and is best known for her ability to provide practical, efficient and strategic legal counsel. For more than two decades, McKenzie has practiced exclusively in information technology and outsourcing law. She has extensive experience with issues unique to the health care technology industry and has represented clients in some of the largest and most sophisticated technology transactions in the U.S. and abroad.

She is a nationally-recognized writer and internationally-recognized speaker in information technology and outsourcing law and has delivered 140 speeches in 33 cities across the United States, and in 15 countries in Europe, South America and Australia. She has also published nearly 50 articles in leading publications like CIO Insight, Stanford Journal of Law, Business & Finance, The Licensing Journal, Intellectual Property and Technology Law Journal and Computer and Internet Lawyer.

McKenzie graduated from Kenyon College, magna cum laude, with honors in Political Science in 1981 and earned her M.B.A. and J.D. from Emory University in 1985.
