HunterMaclean Launches New Financial Asset Management and Protection Group to Handle Loan Modifications

Released March 14, 2009

Recognizing the urgent needs of commercial investors in the current economic climate, the law firm of HunterMaclean recently launched a new Financial Asset Management and Protection Group to provide expert advice for creditors regarding loan restructuring.

“We are already providing these services to our clients,” said attorney Jennifer Sawyer, the firm partner leading the new practice group. “But we wanted to let others in the community know that we are available to help them weather these tough economic times and to protect their assets as much as possible. By pooling together our resources across various legal specialties, we can offer the ultimate protection and expert counsel to our clients. ”

HunterMaclean’s Financial Asset Management and Protection Group is a creditor-oriented specialty practice, encompassing loan restructuring and workout transactions, non-judicial and judicial enforcement actions, the acquisition and disposition of underperforming loans and loan portfolios, and the representation of creditor entities and committees in bankruptcy cases, both in local and in national jurisdictions.

The firm represents financial institutions and non-institutional holders of financial assets in a wide range of restructuring activities related to real estate, commercial paper, franchise businesses, leases, membership and partnership interests, timber holdings and equipment.

The interdisciplinary group is composed of lawyers with extensive commercial finance, commercial and residential real estate, environmental, corporate, bankruptcy and real estate litigation experience.

“The lawyers within our Financial Asset Management and Protection Group are devoted to bringing together the range and depth of experience and skills necessary to assist our clients in the management and protection of their financial assets,” Sawyer said. “By combining our efforts we are able to assist creditors swiftly and successfully.”
