Reid Williamson practices exclusively within the Firm’s estates and trusts fiduciary practice group and concentrates in the areas of estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, probate, estate and trust administration, fiduciary law, drafting wills and revocable trusts, life insurance trusts, QPRTs, IRA planning, powers of attorney, health care directives, irrevocable trusts, and family partnership planning.
Reid focuses on the creation and administration of advanced family estate plans, trusts and estates, and planning techniques involving family partnerships, limited liability companies, and various types of complex trusts. Reid has significant experience advising client families about the estate or trust administration process and counseling during litigation and other disputes among or between beneficiaries and/or executors and trustees. Reid consults and represents fiduciaries, such as executors and trustees, in all areas including litigation. He also frequently serves client families by serving personally in various fiduciary roles for them, such as executor, trustee, or conservator.
Reid is an estate planning attorney with more than thirty years of experience. From 2000 to 2007, he was an attorney, equity owner, and senior vice president of a locally-owned investment advisory firm with assets under management in excess of $400 million. Reid was a partner at HunterMaclean prior to 2000 and returned to the Firm in 2007.
Originally from Savannah, Reid attended the Savannah Country Day School and the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, before graduating magna cum laude from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science in 1982. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1985.
