Sean Callahan is an associate in HunterMaclean’s real estate group, where he is involved primarily with commercial and residential real estate transactions. Sean has significant experience with transactional, compliance, and business organizational matters within residential and commercial real estate practice.

Sean is originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2006 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he double majored in Political Science and Sociology. While at UNCG, he was on the Dean’s List and served as chaplain for the North Carolina Omicron Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Sean earned his J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2015. While at NCCU Law, he was a student volunteer for the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Low-Income Taxpayer Clinics. Through a law school study-abroad program, Sean studied at Queen Mary University School of Law’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies in London, England, earning a Certificate in Global Arbitration Law and Practice. Subsequently, Sean studied at the Center for Transactional Law and Practice at Emory University School of Law, earning his LL.M. in 2016. While at Emory Law, he completed an externship with The Home Depot Legal Department, where he worked directly with its legal practice groups on a variety of local and multi-jurisdictional matters.

Before joining HunterMaclean, Sean represented lenders and worked closely with residential builders and investors in acquisition development, construction, purchase-sale, and 1031 exchange transactions. He also assisted those parties in resolving numerous title and land survey matters.

Sean is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Bar Association’s Real Property Law Section.

  • Represented lenders in numerous acquisition and development, purchase-sale, construction, and 1031 exchange real estate transactions.
  • Provided guidance to lenders, builders, and real estate investors regarding transaction structures and business organizational authority matters.
  • Drafted and reviewed various instruments, contracts, amendments, business authority, and lender documentation to effectuate the successful close of real estate transactions.
  • Resolved a variety of title curative, insurability, and land survey matters including, but not limited to, insufficient legal descriptions, prior security instruments and liens of record, easements, encroachments, and cemeteries.
