HunterMaclean, a leading law firm with offices in Savannah and Brunswick, is pleased to announce that Ruth H. Young recently rejoined the firm after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia for more than 20 years. Young will be part of HunterMaclean’s Health Care Practice Group.
“Ruth brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her tenure at the Department of Justice,” said Frank S. Macgill, managing partner at HunterMaclean. “She will serve as an invaluable addition to our talented team of health care attorneys. We’re delighted to welcome an esteemed colleague back to HunterMaclean.”
Young earned a J.D. and a B.B.A. from Emory University and later clerked for (now Senior) U. S. District Judge B. Avant Edenfield. From 1984-1989, Young practiced at HunterMaclean, offering legal counsel to the firm’s largest health care clients.
After her tenure at HunterMaclean, Young joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office, where she represented the United States in civil cases in federal and state courts in the Southern District of Georgia. She is admitted to all courts of the state of Georgia, as well as the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Georgia. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Savannah Bar Association and has served on the Court Advisory Committee of the Southern District of Georgia for 20 years.
“Ruth is a well-respected attorney who brings a unique perspective to health care law, thanks to her extensive experience,” said T. Mills Fleming, leader of HunterMaclean’s Health Care Practice Group. “She has a deep understanding of issues facing hospitals and physician practices in today’s fast-changing regulatory environment, and she will complement our regulatory, information technology, tax, and litigation practices.”
“I am delighted to be returning to HunterMaclean,” said Young. “I know from personal experience that HunterMaclean is a great firm with talented lawyers. I look forward to joining an exceptional team and helping clients successfully negotiate the healthcare and government-regulated issues.”
