Sarah H. Lamar Named Co-Chair of Georgia Society of Human Resource Management Governmental Affairs Committee

HunterMaclean partner Sarah H. Lamar was recently named co-chair of the Georgia Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Governmental Affairs Committee.

The committee’s mission is to raise awareness of new laws, regulations and legislative initiatives among all SHRM chapters throughout Georgia and to engage SHRM members in the legislative process. SHRM is a national human resource trade organization with more than 250,000 members in all 50 states.

Lamar practices in the area of employment law and has experience representing employers in employment litigation in state and federal courts regarding discrimination and employment laws such as Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and Fair Labor Standards Act, among others. She also represents employers in breach of contract actions, including non-competes and tort claims, and in agency investigations brought by the U.S. and Georgia Departments of Labor, the EEOC, OFCCP and U.S. ICE.

Lamar is a member of the American Bar Association and the Savannah Bar Association. She is the Chair Emeritus of ALFA International, a global legal networking organization and serves on ALFA International’s Employment Practice Group Steering Committee.

An active community volunteer, Lamar is involved with a number of local non-profit organizations and is a graduate of Leadership Savannah. Currently, she serves as secretary for Historic Savannah Foundation’s Board of Trustees and is a member of the executive committee for Visit Savannah. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Savannah Area Tourism Leadership Council.

Lamar earned a B.A. in History from Yale University and a J.D. from the Emory University School of Law. She is admitted to the bars of Georgia, the District of Columbia and the federal courts in Georgia.
