At the annual retreat of the Savannah Children’s Choir’s (SCC) board of trustees, the members elected Adam Kirk as president, and Lukejohn Dickson as vice-president. Beth Robinson and Jason Gallegos will continue in their roles as secretary and treasurer, respectively. Adam Kirk, an attorney and partner at HunterMaclean, has been involved on the board for over a year, and replaces Jamey Espina of Hospice Savannah, who has ended his term as president but continues as a board member. Lukejohn Dickson, owner of Savannah Kitchen & Bath, has also served for over a year.
“I’m pleased to serve as chairman and to help continue the tradition of excellence the Choir has established going into its tenth anniversary season next year,” states Kirk.
Other members serving on the board include Spencer Burch, Ann Fries, Tommy Gennuso, Mary Morrison, Sue Reilly and Eric Sharpe.
“The diversity of skills in our board makeup is essential for the long-term success of the choir,” comments SCC’s Executive Director, Cuffy Sullivan. “We have members in such a variety of fields – from aerospace and computer engineering to health care, non-profit and the public sector – we’re able to position ourselves at the forefront of effective non-profit leadership,” she continued.
Levelyn BridgesThe SCC also recently appointed alumna Levelyn Bridges in the position of Alumni Coordinator. Ms. Bridges, now a student at Georgia Southern University pursing a degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Vocal Music, was a member since the choir’s inception in 2006, and graduated from the choir in 2008. In preparation for the 10th anniversary season (2015-2016) her job will be to maintain contact with the SCC’s alumni and track and celebrate their progress.
Thanks to a generous donor, the Savannah Children’s Choir is able to offer an Administrative Internship to an Armstrong State student. This five-year commitment allows the SCC to seek out and select an undergraduate student at Armstrong State to learn more about non-profit management and administration as a paid intern.
