Two new associates recently joined HunterMaclean. Attorney Daniel J. Monahan is an associate with the firm’s Specialty Litigation Group and focuses his practice in the area of business litigation. Courtney L. Valentine is an associate with the Business Litigation Group and focuses her practice in the areas of business litigation and corporate law.
Monahan participated in HunterMaclean’s summer associate program in Savannah in 2012. Prior to attending law school, he worked for several years as a client services analyst for U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management in Boston.
Monahan earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in May 2013, graduating magna cum laude. In law school, he served as executive managing editor of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. He also has a B.A. in Composition, summa cum laude, from the Berklee College of Music.
He is licensed to practice law in Georgia and currently resides in Savannah with his wife Karen.
Courtney L. Valentine worked abroad as a teaching assistant through the French Ministry of Education before joining HunterMaclean. She also completed an externship with the Honorable Robert C. Hunter of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, worked as an intern at the Superior Court of Chatham County, and served as a research assistant at the University of North Carolina School of Law.
Valentine earned a J.D. with honors in May 2013 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at UNC, she received the Gressman-Pollitt Award in her section for Outstanding Oral Advocacy: Best Overall. She also served as a staff member and later as an articles editor on the North Carolina Law Review.
For her undergraduate studies, Valentine attended Dartmouth College, graduating cum laude, with high honors in French, in 2009. She is an alumna of Savannah Country Day School, Class of 2005.
Valentine interned with HunterMaclean in 2011 and returned in 2012 to participate in HunterMaclean’s summer associate program. She is licensed to practice law in Georgia and currently resides in Savannah.
