Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson, “Building a World Class Education System in Savannah”

Mayor Otis Johnson emphasized the economic, social and moral importance of developing a world-class education system in Savannah. At the forum, he encouraged local business leaders and community members to work together to help solve the problem.

Johnson outlined the cornerstones of his action plan, including a five-year goal to increase the on-time graduate rate and percentage of high school graduates to national standards, a five-year goal to encourage Savannah-Chatham public schools to meet the state’s educational standards, and a 10-year goal to have the school system meet national educational standards.
