Legal Awareness in the Workplace: From Hiring to Termination — Effective Employee Management

January 19, 2016

Georgia Southern University’s new season of Legal Awareness in the Workplace will run from August through January. Human Resource professionals, supervisors, office managers, and other business leaders are invited to attend 90-minute professional development seminars on important employment law issues. Seminars are held monthly, rotating from the law office of HunterMaclean in Brunswick, the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on campus in Statesboro, and the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah.

HunterMaclean attorney Sarah Lamar will present Legal Awareness in the Workplace (LAW) 122: From Hiring to Termination — Effective Employee Management on January 19 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on campus in Statesboro. Sarah will review every major HR step to ensure employees are processed legally and treated fairly within a firm. Attendees will learn how to: follow pre-hire procedures, handle discipline issues, properly process discharging employees, and maintain a positive working environment.

Georgia Southern University is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP and the SHRM-SCP. After completing the seminar, attendees will receive 1.5 credit hours toward a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) re-certification that complies with the rules of the Human Resources Certification Institute.

The seminar fee is $59 for individuals and $55 each for four or more per firm. The registration deadline is noon on Tuesday, January 12. To register, go to http://academics.georgiasouthern.edu/ce/programs or call toll-free 855-478-5551. For more information, e-mail j-Lutz@georgiasouthern.edu.
