The second annual Savannah Logistics Lunch will take place on Thursday, July 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Center on the Armstrong State University campus. Co-presented by the Center of Innovation for Logistics and HunterMaclean, the 2016 Logistics Lunch will explore Technology and Transportation. The program is tailored for Savannah area logistics companies and the support services, vendors, and professional services firms that work with them.

The Savannah Logistics Lunch is a regional expansion of the Georgia Logistics Summit, which annually draws 2,000 logistics professionals to Atlanta, including many from Savannah. The Logistics Lunch was developed to provide regional focus on a topic of interest to the coastal Georgia logistics community. The 2015 inaugural event focused on the opportunities and challenges of importing, exporting, transporting, and storing perishable foods, which has since become a strong growth sector. This year the Logistics Lunch addresses the critically important and rapidly evolving use of technology by transportation and logistics providers.

After opening remarks from Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Chris Carr and Center of Innovation for Logistics Director Jannine Miller, the keynote panel will discuss how technology is being implemented locally and regionally as well as the ongoing effort to turn data into value for increased operational efficiency.

The 2016 panel will consist of:

  • Brandon Tatom, Strategic Sales Executive, C.H. Robinson
  • Professor Chip White, Schneider National Chair of Transportation & Logistics, Georgia Institute of Technology
  • Kent Williams, Regional Vice President, Averitt Express
  • Gordon Hammer, General Manager, Client Relations Center (CRC) Georgia Ports Authority
  • Chris Jones, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Services, Descartes
  • Chris “Smitty” Smith, HunterMaclean Logistics & Transportation attorney (Moderator)

The panel will explore the rapidly changing use of technology to increase productivity and streamline communications, cargo, routing, and safety; on-the-horizon technology like truck platooning and dynamic sequencing; and the state-of-the-art technology that makes the Georgia Ports Authority one of the most efficient ports in North America.

Registration for the Savannah Logistics Lunch costs $20.00 and is available now at www.georgia.org/LogisticsLunch.

HunterMaclean is proud to partner with the Center of Innovation for Logistics to present this valuable addition to the calendar of logistics events in Savannah.
