Savannah Magazine and Business in Savannah recently honored HunterMaclean partner Colin McRae in the annual “Generation Next: Rising Stars of Business” competition, which recognizes 21 local business and community leaders under the age of 40.
The winners were nominated and selected based upon their business accomplishments and their humanitarian efforts. “Generation Next” appears in the March/April issue of Savannah Magazine and in the March 21 issue of Business in Savannah.
“Colin is an exceptional leader with a strong commitment to the community,” said Frank S. Macgill, HunterMaclean’s managing partner. “He is known as a leader in Georgia’s maritime law field as well as for his selfless philanthropic efforts.”
McRae, who is a graduate of Leadership Savannah, excels in a range of practice areas including admiralty law, business litigation and real estate litigation. He has consistently been honored as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The Savannah Bar Association bestowed him with the prestigious Robbie Robinson Award in recognition of his dedication to the principles of service and to the advancement of the legal, political, social and civil rights of the citizens in Savannah.
A graduate of Yale University and the University of Georgia School of Law, McRae’s practice at HunterMaclean includes admiralty law, business litigation, real estate disputes and election law.
An active community volunteer, McRae currently serves as the chairman for both the non-profit healthcare clinic Community Health Mission and the Chatham County Board of Registrars, and is also on the board of directors of the Economic Opportunity Authority of Savannah/Chatham County. He serves on the executive committee of the Savannah Bar Association and is the past president of its Younger Lawyers Division.
In addition, he has excelled as an attorney coach for the High School Mock Trial team at Savannah Country Day School for the last 11 years, for which he was awarded a Best Attorney Coach award by the statewide high school mock trial committee for the 2008-2009 season.
