Sam is a partner in HunterMaclean’s Corporate and Data Privacy & Technology practice groups. His work includes general corporate representation and advising on M&A and commercial contracts, with a specialization in data privacy, technology, and intellectual property. Sam works with growth-stage to medium-sized businesses, primarily in the technology and health care industries. He has negotiated transactions with every major health care insurance company, some of the largest hospital systems in the country, and multiple government agencies. He has also represented clients in multi-million-dollar acquisitions and exits.
Sam works closely with shareholders, C-suites, and boards of directors, providing legal counsel at the highest levels of business decision-making. He has appeared in online media and regularly gives presentations on a range of legal topics. Sam prides himself in his ability to earn the trust and confidence of the business leaders with whom he works.
Sam graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Global and International Studies in 2012. As part of his undergraduate studies, Sam spent time in Cairo, Egypt. He went on to earn his M.B.A. in 2014 from the University of Saint Mary and his J.D., cum laude, in 2017 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he served as general editor of the Florida Journal of International Law.
Since moving to Savannah after beginning his practice in Tampa, Florida, Sam has established himself in coastal Georgia with his wife, Lauren, and their two daughters. In his spare time, in addition to spending time with his family, Sam has a passion for soccer, which he coached at the collegiate level and still enjoys playing, coaching, and spectating.

Represented multiple sellers in commercial insurance industry in sales totaling over $100 million in transaction value to regional and national agencies.
Represented seller of multiple heavy-duty towing and recovery businesses to private equity-backed purchaser.
Served as general counsel to a patient scheduling software-as-a-service provider through sale to the technology arm of a publicly traded national insurance carrier.
Served as general counsel to both provider groups and standalone facilities and technology vendors in the healthcare industry.
Negotiated multimillion-dollar contract between state energy agency and customer accounts technology vendor.
