Attorney Mills Fleming Elected Board Chairman for Bethesda Academy

HunterMaclean partner Mills Fleming was recently elected chairman of the board for the Bethesda Academy. For the past two years, Mills served as vice chair of the board.

Bethesda Academy, originally named Bethesda Orphan House and Academy, began as a colonial orphanage. It has the distinction of being the oldest child caring institution in the United States. Founded in 1740 by Rev. George Whitefield, Bethesda was visited by many of the country’s founding fathers and discovered one of its earliest supporters in Benjamin Franklin.

Bethesda Academy is dedicated to transforming the lives of young men. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Ninety-five percent of Bethesda Academy students graduate on time, and 80% of its students go on to college. For the 2012-2013 school year, 122 young men enrolled at Bethesda Academy.
