HunterMaclean’s medical malpractice group has been representing hospitals, professional practice groups, birthing centers, physicians, nurses, and many other types of medical care providers, as well as pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and numerous other medical-related companies, in a myriad of medical-related disputes and litigation and arbitration matters for over forty years.

In addition to defending medical professionals and their employers against traditional medical malpractice claims, our attorneys have represented medical professionals and corporations in a number of other types of litigation matters, including ordinary negligence, patient and visitor falls, negligent security, negligent hiring and retention, negligent credentialing, employment, and certificate of need appeals.

Our representation has included almost all medical specialties. This includes generalists and traditional primary care physicians such as internal medicine, family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, midwives, and hospitalists. We also represent many specialty physicians and their groups, including neurologists, surgeons, cardiologists, nephrologists, intensivists, and oncologists.

HunterMaclean attorneys represent clients in actions filed in both state and superior court and federal courts throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

  • Defending hospitals, practice groups, physicians, nurses, and other health care providers against claims that they or their employees were negligent in the care and treatment of their patients or visitors.
  • Counseling and assisting health care clients in methods of reducing their exposure to future medical malpractice claims, including providing educational in-service programs to employees on such issues as documentation and medical charting.
  • Representing physicians in front of the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners relating to medical licensor issues following medical malpractice settlements or verdicts against the physicians.
  • Assisting hospitals and medical facilities with the prevention of premise-related accidents and litigation of premise liability claims.
  • Litigation relating to general liability of medical providers including claims involving improper security and physical or sexual assault of patients, visitors, or employees.
  • Representing hospitals in involuntary commitment hearing.
  • Representing hospitals, physicians, and physician practice groups in corporate and employment matters, including the formation, purchase, and sale of professional practice groups and surgery centers and the litigation or arbitration of various types of disputes involving practice groups.
